15. No stench or other unpleasant smells
It is very disturbing for a buyer to come in and be greeted by a variety of more or less “pleasant scents”. Bad smells can drive potential customers away from buying the house. However, it might not be entirely your fault. Living and residing there, you are used to the distinct smells in your home. But don’t expect the “rule” to apply to anyone else. So, you may ask the real estate agent if there are any nasty odours. If so, accessorise your home with some air fresheners before inviting any prospective buyer inside.
